Set against the backdrop of 19th-century exploration, Dreaming of Africa traces the extraordinary journeys of Swedish pioneers Charles John Andersson and Axel Eriksson, whose scientific curiosity and spirit of adventure led them deep into the wild landscapes of what is today Namibia and Botswana.

The film begins in Sweden, with the story of Llewellyn Lloyd, an English adventurer and zoologist whose passion for nature inspired his son, Andersson, to pursue a life of exploration in Africa. Through multiple expeditions across southern Africa, Andersson became one of the first Europeans to map and document the region’s wildlife, while Eriksson continued his mentor’s legacy, building trade networks and contributing to natural history collections that still exist today.

Directed by Stefan Quinth, this captivating documentary sheds light on a little-known chapter of shared Swedish–Namibian history, blending adventure, science, and cultural exchange.
