Autism Association of Namibia Talk: Neurodiversity: Colourful people pretending to be normal

  • 10 April 2024

A public talk about Autism Spectrum Disorders & ADHD in adults by Sybille Lindner, Mind-body physiotherapist (autistic & ADHD) will be held at the Namibia Scientific Society on 15 April 2024 at 18:00

Neurodiversity is the natural variation in human neurological characteristics including Autism Spectrum Disorders and ADHD, among others. Although they may be disabling, and create numerous challenges, they are seen as natural variation in how the human brain functions, communicates and senses the world.

Although a lot is known about Autism and ADHD in children, there are still many myths and misconceptions in understanding the issues they face, and the biggest misconceptions are about how adult neurodivergents present and what their challenges are. The biggest portion of autistics and ADHD adults live what appear to be normal lives, and this talk helps to shed some light on what that feels like from the inside.

Join the open discussion about:

• Myths & misconceptions

• Masking & coping skills

• Effects of neurodivergence on mental & physical health

• Role of trauma in neurodivergent adults

Opportunity for Q&A and free discussion about what it’s like to be a neurodivergent adult.
