Astro News October 2025
- 30 September 2025
The skies are busy this month! Saturn reaches opposition on 4 October, shining brightly all night, with a close encounter between the Moon and Saturn on the 6th. Watch for the Orionid meteor shower peaking on 21 October – perfectly timed with the New Moon for dark skies. Mercury climbs to its best evening view on the 29th, while Venus glows in the dawn and Jupiter rises in the early hours.
This month’s “Galaxy of the Month” takes us beyond our Milky Way to the Magellanic Clouds – two neighboring dwarf galaxies packed with history, nebulae, and star clusters, visible to the naked eye from Namibia’s skies.
