Astro News September 2026

This month, Venus dominates the evening sky, while Mars and Jupiter emerge brightly at dawn. Saturn is fast approaching opposition in early October and remains visible throughout most of the night.

Also, mark your calendars for September 14, when a stunning close approach of the crescent Moon and Venus graces the western horizon.

Our Constellation of the Month is Corona Australis (the Southern Crown). This is a fascinating star-forming region home to the gorgeous Corona Australis Nebula.

Lastly, don’t miss the Southern Star Party on September 11 at Rock Lodge near Okahandja, featuring solar viewing and astrophotography! The deadline to book your spot is Thursday, 3 September.
