In 2021, the Goethe Institut held a competition for established and aspiring writers in Namibia. Tasked with having to submit a written entry between 3000–5000 words, the number of submissions was overwhelming. In the end, there were 13 selected authors whose stories are part of the book titled, In Times of Pandemic. This anthology, which captures the voices and experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic in Namibia through these selected authors was launched on the 9th of March 2023 at the Goethe Institut Namibia. The audience was treated to an evening of reading from two of the three winners. Charmaine Gamxamus, who took the second prize, read a few paragraphs from her story Dehisce, and Lloyd Winini, recounted his short story with a few paragraphs, highlighting his brilliant writing skills.

It is worth mentioning that most of the submissions were by emerging writers and this calls for a celebration. We would also like to congratulate the winners of this competition and for their work being published.

The book is available at the Goethe Institut, Namibia Scientific Society and local bookstores as well as online.
